Khanewal: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Pervaiz Elahi has announced the ownership rights for residents of katchi abadis in Tehsil Jahania of the province, news sources reported on November 24.

The project will include handing over land ownership rights to the people who have been living on the land for a long time in makeshift settlements. Speaking to the residents of the Jahania district, CM Elahi said that the government is taking every step to provide relief to the people, and the regularization of shanty homes is the first step towards that milestone. He also launched a number of infrastructure development projects for Jahania and other areas. Among the initiatives announced were the following:
- Construction of 150 beds Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Khanewal
- Construction of a 40 beds THQ hospital with a blood bank and labour rooms for Jahania
- Construction of Bahauddin Zakariya University campus in Jahania
- Construction of a degree college for women in Jahania
- Provision of the mass transit system for Tehsil Jahania
