He further shared images of the development work conducted on the project so far — with work to carpet roads being completed at this time. The chairman also took the opportunity to state that the highway was expected to boost activity at the Gwadar Port, and that it would serve as a major artery for the traffic utilizing this route.
The Gwadar East Bay Expressway connects the Gwadar seaport and Free Zone with the country’s national highways. This makes it a major development for the CPEC initiative and as such, is expected to expedite the transport of import and export goods to and from Gwadar.
Currently, the port can only be accessed through a short 16-feet wide road running through the Gwadar Town at the West Bay. This causes major disruptions for the traffic passing through the area.

The Gwadar East Bay Expressway is a 6-lane throughway and a railway corridor — with both connecting the port with the Mekran Coastal Highway (N-20) that passes through Gwadar’s Free Trade Zone.
