Gujrat: Eight government schools are among the 86 buildings that have been marked dangerous in three tehsils of Gujrat district.
The issue was discussed in a District Planning and Design Committee meeting on December 1 chaired by District Coordination Officer Liaqat Ali Chattha and attended by the assistant commissioners of all tehsils, tehsil municipal officers, and the additional district collector.
According to a news source, the government released PKR 49 million in funds for the construction of new buildings but the schools have still not been repaired or rebuilt.
The district government directed the tehsil municipal administrations concerned to notify owners of all the buildings labelled dangerous, especially private residential spaces, to repair or demolish the structures and threatened strict legal action if this is not done in a timely manner.
