Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) of the Planning Commission, on Thursday, approved eight construction projects worth PKR 11 billion in the capital, according to a news source. This approval was given in a CDWP meeting chaired by Minister for Planning and Development Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar. Along with these projects, proposals for another eight projects worth PKR 206 billion were forwarded to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for approval.

The CDWP perused six projects of the Prime Minister’s National Agricultural Emergency Programme, and approved three of them. The remaining three were forwarded to ECNEC for approval. The CDWP-approved projects were the promotion of trout farming in the Northern areas costing PKR 2.355 billion, a calf-fattening project worth PKR 2.385 billion, and a backyard poultry farm project worth PKR 1.67 billion.

Two out of four energy projects presented to the CDWP were also approved. These were the evacuation of power from a 220/132kV grid station in Swabi, and consultancy services for the feasibility studies for water pumping in Balochistan.
The CDWP also approved a project from the science and technology sector. This refers to the establishment of the Postgraduate Center for Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture and Health Sciences worth PKR 527.6 million. SUPARCO presented the feasibility and system definition study of Pakistan Optical Remote Sensing Satellite (PRSS-02) worth PKR 316 million, and received CDWP approval as well.

CDWP also approved the revised project related to the provision of security infrastructure in Malakand, Swat and other conflict areas worth PKR 2.95 billion.
