Lahore: The city administration has proposed that makeshift slaughterhouses should be set-up in the seven cattle markets that are to be established within the city for Eid-ul-Azha this year — a news source reported.

The local administration has also proposed the establishment of cattle markets on Shahpur Kanjara, Multan Road; Ring Road, Lakhodher Sabzi Mandi; Punjab Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Phase II; DHA Rahbar Phase XI Halloki, Defense Road; DHA Phase IX; Hazrat Usman Ghani Road Saggian; and Hazrat Ali Road Saggian.
Special standard operating procedures (SOPs) will also be prepared for these slaughterhouses and the planned cattle markets. The Lahore Waste Management Company will be responsible for keeping all the sites clean, while the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore will be responsible for animal innards, water, lights, security, tents, public toilets, complaint centres, and drinking water.

Necessary distance is expected to be maintained between different tents and animals due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and a special committee has been formed for the preparation of additional SOPs.
