To help low-income families during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan had announced a four-month advance cash stipend under the Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme.
Ehsaas Programme Chairperson Sania Nishtar said that the ‘Ehsaas SMS service’ would begin next week, through which the novel coronavirus-affected families would share CNIC numbers. She added that in collaboration with the National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA), the government would identify the deserving families.
Nishtar revealed that after receiving CNIC numbers via the Ehsaas SMS service, they would use a two-layered filtration system. She added that the first layer would use the parameters like bank balance and occupation. People identified as less affluent would then receive a SMS message back confirming their eligibility.
