Islamabad: Minister for Planning & Development Asad Umar has said that the federal government will commence with the Ehsaas Programme cash disbursements from tomorrow (April 9) onwards; with the funds to be distributed among families affected by the going COVID-19 lockdown, a news source reported.

Previously, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan had announced the government’s decision to provide PKR 12,000 to the country’s low-income households under the ‘Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme’ initiative.
To this effect, Umar revealed that in the first phase of Ehsaas cash disbursements, the executive would distribute PKR 48 billion among four million families. To facilitate this measure, he said, the government recently set up 16,923 distribution points across the country.
Umar said that around 12 million families would receive PKR 12,000 each in phases. He maintained that the government had enforced protective measures in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic at all distribution points.

Moreover, the planning minister said that the government would provide Ehsaas cash disbursements directly to the deserving families across the country on a non-discrimination basis.
