Dr Nishtar revealed that as per the instructions of PM Imran Khan, the Ehsaas Cash Assistance Package Phase-II would help provide cash relief to individuals who need it urgently. She stated that during 2019-20, the government had provided PKR 12,000 as a one-time assistance to people suffering from consequences of the coronavirus lockdown. Around 11.6 million beneficiaries received cash during the pandemic, she said.
The SAPM stated that for the second phase of the initiative, the government would prepare a revised list of beneficiaries. She highlighted that the number of selected people might be reduced, now that the virus spread had been controlled and business activities in the country had resumed.
