Islamabad: On Thursday, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan met with a delegation of investors from Egypt who said that Egyptian corporations were keen on investing up to USD 1 billion in Pakistan’s energy sector and the PM’s Naya Pakistan Housing Project (NPHP), in the coming year. The PM encouraged their interest and talked about improving bilateral ties between both countries.

The delegation included representatives of the well-known energy company El Sewedy Electric, who announced that they were planning on investing USD 500 million in Pakistan’s energy sector. The PM stated that the government was putting in a lot of effort to promote renewable energy through their new policies.

Khan said the government was aiming for a disease-free country and that there were various avenues of potential Pak-Egypt cooperation in this area. He said that both countries should make efforts to overcome common challenges that they were faced with, at the international level.
