Karachi: Sindh Minister for Culture, Tourism and Archives, Syed Sardar Ali Shah expressed at the Thar Investment and Tourism Promotion Conference that festivals and conferences were the ‘best weapons’ to combat against the social ills, as such events bring people from different sections of society to one platform.

Mr Shah stated that the government was already working on a number of projects to develop Thar into one of the best tourism attractions in the country as the district has not lost its beauty and peace over the centuries.
Secretary of provincial investment department lamented that no investment was made by various departments to boost trade of local products and stressed the need to protect the historical and heritage sites in the district, aided by both officials and lawmakers.
Provincial secretary of mines and minerals, Syed Zulfikar Ali Shah stated that the Sindh government had initiated a number of projects to protect Karoonjhar Mountains and dispelled the rumor regarding the issuance of permits to extract precious stones from the protected sites.

Moreover, PPP MPA Qasim Siraj Soomro said that the government had launched a number of plans upgrade the infrastructure of the district.
