Quetta: Balochistan Finance Minister Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi on Tuesday provided notification of the provincial government’s ongoing efforts to reduce poverty in the region, a news source reported. He made this statement while addressing a forum on ‘Role of Parliamentarian Civil Society and Academia for acquisition of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)’. It was organised by the Planning and Development Department and UNDP Balochistan Development Network.

He said that the provincial government was taking all possible measures to meet the targets of durable development in the province in a timely manner. The government was working to provide all basic facilities – including education, healthcare and clean water – to the people of the province. The capacity of all departments is being enhanced to help with the process and to meet the objectives of the SDGs.

The minister appreciated the efforts being put in by UNDP to help achieve the SDGs; adding that the provincial executive wanted to collaborate with the civil society in order to address public concerns.
