Islamabad: The Board of Investment (BoI) and the Special Economic Zone Authority (SEZA) have planned to establish an economic zone near Rawat and asked the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to identify land to be declared as Special Economic Zone (SEZ), according to news published on January 16.

The CDA will take up the request to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for land acquisition in its upcoming board meeting. It was mentioned that a joint summary was prepared by the Planning and Estate Wing, which will be presented before the member planning. The CDA has identified 1,000 acres of land near Rawat Industrial Estate for setting up an ICT model Special Economic Zone. The authority has permitted BoI to approach the land acquisition collector for acquiring the land. The SEZA has requested CDA to provide NOC.

Moreover, it was mentioned that the SEZA, in March 2022, approved the concept plan while the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) gave a nod to the PC-I for the feasibility study and acquisition of land. It is important to note that the development of private housing schemes is allowed in Zone IV and CDA plans to develop an industrial estate in the zone along Kahuta Road.
