Islamabad: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) is set to approve projects worth billions of rupees at its next meeting scheduled to be held this Friday (October 7), news sources reported on October 5.

The projects scheduled to be approved include are:
• Chashma Right Bank Canal
• Naulong Multipurpose Dam
• Karachi-Quetta-Chaman Road
• Wadh-Khuzdar Road
• Chitral-Booni-Mastuj-Shandur Road
• Lowari Road Tunnel & Access Road
All these projects will be reviewed based on the findings of the recommendation committee and the submitted Project Concept-1 (PC-1). The committee is also anticipated to approve energy and transportation projects across the country, including the 500 kilovolt (kV) Sialkot Substation, as well as the development and augmentation of 500 kV and 220 kV transformers at existing grid stations to alleviate National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) system bottlenecks.

The ECNEC will discuss the following transportation and road infrastructure projects:
• Dualization and rehabilitation of the 232-kilometer long Karachi–Quetta–Chaman Road (N-25)
• Rehabilitation of 41-kilometer long Karachi–Kararo and Wadh–Khuzdar Road
• Dualization of 83-kilometer long section of Kararo–Wadh Road
• Dualisation and rehabilitation of 104-kilometer long Kuchlak–Chaman Section of National Highway (N-25)
• Improvement and widening of the 153-kilometer long Chitral–Booni–Mastuj–Shandur Road • Improvement and rehabilitation project of Lowari Road Tunnel & access road projects
