Islamabad: The National Economic Council’s Executive Committee (ECNEC) on Tuesday (December 6) authorised 10 development projects for flood-related recovery, restoration, and rebuilding across the country, news sources reported.

The project would cost PKR 333.6 billion of which 233 billion will be spent in Sindh, the most flood-affected province in the country. The meeting was presided over by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and members of the four provinces. The meeting approved the following road infrastructure and other development projects:
- PKR 70.45 billion for Sindh Water and Agriculture Transformation (SWAT) Project spread over 23 districts
- PKR 48.3 billion for the Sindh Flood Emergency Rehabilitation Project (SFERP) to reform the irrigation infrastructure, fully funded by the World Bank (WB)
- PKR 66 billion was approved for the restoration of infrastructure and livelihoods (Rescue 1122 component) under SFERP
- PKR 59.4 billion was approved for the restoration of roads, water supplies, rehabilitation of damaged drainage systems in Sindh

- PKR 48.3 billion for Sindh on Strengthening the Social Protection Delivery System (SSPD) with international development assistance of PKR 42 billion and Sindh government’s share of PKR 6.3 billion.
- PKR 36.2 billion for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the National Highway 5 (N-5) from Moro to Ranipur (around 90 kilometres) and 32 damaged bridges
- PKR 23.98 billion for improving workforce readiness, which entails Punjab’s share of PKR 2.086 billion and ADB’s share of PKR 21.896 billion
- PKR 15 billion or USD 68.2 million to reconstruct and rehabilitate irrigation, drainage system and flood protection work with a foreign exchange component of PKR 13.2 billion (USD 60 million) to be funded by the KP government and the ADB.
- PKR 12.5 billion (USD 56.8 million) project involving a foreign exchange component of PKR 11 billion (USD 50 million) to be funded by the Balochistan government and the ADB.
- PKR 3.8 billion (USD 17.4 million) under the on-farm water management component involving a foreign exchange component of PKR 3.3 billion (USD 15 million), to be funded by the Balochistan government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB)

- For Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), the meeting approved PKR 9.018 billion worth of revised project for the construction of the 109.2-kilometre-long Authmuqam-Sharda-Kel-Taobat road including two tunnels at Kahori/Kamser and Challpani section of Neelum Valley road
