Gilgit: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved PKR 21.27 billion Attabad Power Project, which will have the capacity to generate 54MW, news sources reported.

A spokesperson of Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister (CM) Imtiaz Ali Taj revealed that the work on Attabad Power Project will commence in the current fiscal year and is expected to be completed in 4 years. He added that this project will help overcome the power shortage in the entire Gilgit division and not just in the Hunza Valley.
Moreover, the spokesperson stated that the Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister focused on the energy sector under the Gilgit-Baltistan Comprehensive Development Plan to resolve the problem of load-shedding. He went on to say that many major projects were included in the federal Public Sector Development Program (PSDP). It was also reported that the government plans to launch 200MW power projects under the PPP in Gilgit-Baltistan.

While talking to the media, the spokesperson Imtiaz Ali disclosed that the PC-II of Shatung Nalla diversion in Skardu was also approved.
