Islamabad: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Saturday approved construction of the Swabi-Mardan Highway project – a news source reported.
Finance Minister Asad Umar presided over the ECNEC meeting. The council sanctioned the transfer of funds worth PKR 9.550 billion for the venture.

These funds will be utilised to conduct a feasibility study and carry out the dualisation of the 42km Mardan-Swabi Road – for transformation into a dual carriageway.
At least 14 new bridges will be constructed on the road. Other development works include the renovation of eight bridges and 75 underpasses. Moreover, each carriage will be 7.3-metre wide.

Meanwhile, the council has sought details from the Sindh government on the Nai Gaj Dam project. It asked the authorities concerned to provide technical details about the development of associated catchment areas.
