Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Wednesday provided its approval to a technical support grant package worth PKR 4.152 billion for the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), according to news sources.

The body sanctioned the scheme under the ‘Pakistan Raises Revenue Programme’ in a bid to assist the taxation agency in meeting the expenses incurred during the achievement of disbursement linked indicators (DLIs). Advisor to the Prime Minister (PM) on Finance Dr Hafeez Shaikh approved the unavoidable expenditures for DLIs achievement and supplement budget resources in this regard.
The committee members further asked the FBR chairman to provide a detailed briefing on the initiative in the next meeting.

The ECC also issued called for the outstanding amount of PKR 1.696 billion on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) import by the Pakistan State Oil (PSO) to be paid to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs in 10 equal instalments over the next decade.
The committee also announced that it will review the arrangement for early payment of this sum in January 2023.
Moreover, the committee approved a technical support grant of PKR 44.447 million for the execution of the ‘National Programme for Improvement of Watercourses Phase-II in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT)’ and other development projects.
