Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Thursday approved PKR 5 billion funds for the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to combat Covid-19 on an emergency basis, a news source reported.

As per the publication, the ECC also granted three supplementary grants for various technical development projects. Adviser to the Prime Minister (PM) on Finance Abdul Hafeez Shaikh presided over the meeting.

Reportedly, the NDMA will utilise the supplementary grant to procure logistics support and personal protective equipment (PPEs), such as masks and gloves, for protection against the novel coronavirus. The ECC approved another grant worth PKR 275 million for capital expenditure on civil works to the Ministry of Housing and Works.

Furthermore, the meeting approved a grant worth PKR 84,352,265 for National Database and Registration Authority’s (NADRA) Emergency Recovery Project – aimed at welfare of the temporarily displaced persons (TDP) in FATA districts. It also approved PKR 5,500 million grant for the Sustainable Development Goals Achievement Program.
