Peshawar: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) approved 19 uplift projects on Thursday for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) with worth a total of PKR 26.66 billion, according to news sources. These projects are related to agriculture, forestry, elementary & secondary education Department (E&SE), health, multi-sectoral development, urban development, relief & rehabilitation, auqaf, Board of Revenue, road infrastructure, water, and power.

The first session of PDWP meeting was presided over by Additional Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan and mulled over 30 uplift projects –approved 19 and recommended 3 projects for Central Development Working Party (CDWP). The meeting deferred 8 projects.
Some of the approved projects are Merged Areas Integrated Development Forestry Project, Mini Zoo at Kanju Township in Swat and execution of feasibility study/establishment of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) in Swat.

The projects approved for multi-sector development includes clearance of unresolved liabilities of contractors, arbitration awards, compensation to the affectees and payment of amounts as decreed by the court.
Furthermore, the meeting also approved the contribution to the Prime Minister’s National Agriculture Emergency Programme (with focus on merged districts) – under the Accelerated Implementation Programme (2020-21).
