Lahore: A Dutch company on Friday conveyed its intent to invest in the government’s Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project (RRUDP) in addition to proposing the establishment of several desalination and renewable energy power plants in both Lahore and Karachi, a news source reported.

According to the details revealed, officials of AWTEC Netherland met Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan in Islamabad and expressed their wiliness to invest up to USD 1.3 billion for setting up the proposed industry-level plants in the Sindh capital.
Officials of the Pakistan Islands Development Authority and the River Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) were all present at the occasion. The prime minister said that the projects proposed by AWTEC Netherland would assist the government in providing quality residential facilities in both developing and developed cities across the country.

He further highlighted the hurdles impeding industrial development as well as lack of adequate garbage disposal arrangements; stating that Pakistan’s coastal areas had been polluted due to open dumping of solid waste.
