Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Syed Shabbar Zaidi revealed that the Dubai Land Department will be sharing details of Pakistanis owning property in the UAE quite soon, according to a news source.

Zaidi made this announcement after a series of meetings held with UAE officials on October 9 and 10 regarding the exchange of information between the two countries. He stated that the Dubai Land Department would share this information instantly, and that iqama abuse will also be tackled.

He further emphasised that over USD 6 billion had been siphoned out of the country over the last 20 years, and this flight of capital is a serious matter that needs to be dealt with appropriately. Zaidi added that the government is appealing to other countries to take this matter more seriously as well, in order to curb the practice of money laundering and prevent tax evasion.
