Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has acquired drones to monitor fire incidents at Margalla Hills National Park (MHNP) in an effort to control rising forest fire incidents, according to news published in the leading newspaper on May 20.

The officials of CDA and Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) briefed the Senate Standing on Climate Change about the drones. As per the details, CDA Director Environment Irfan Niazi disclosed that the CDA firefighters have assisted Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s authorities to put out forest fires thrice this season.

Previously, the CDA held a meeting in which the use of drone technology for forest fires was discussed. It was mentioned that through drones the administration will be able to timely identify the fires and its causes. During the meeting, it was disclosed that the joint teams of district administration, IWMB, and CDA will patrol the forest areas to take action against people involved in deforestation.
