Lahore: The World Wildlife Fund (WWF), in collaboration with the Lahore Ring Road Authority, Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) and Afforestation Lahore, launched a special plantation drive to plant 5,000 indigenous tree saplings along the Lahore Ring Road on Thursday, according to news sources.

This initiative is another attempt to increase the green cover in the metropolitan, launched under the Clean and Green Pakistan initiative. The former city of Gardens; Lahore, has rapidly lost the green cover to make room for the ever-increasing urban population. This drive will help maintain the groundwater table, enhance the air quality and counteract the adverse elements that are contributing to climate change.
During the launch ceremony, held at the Colonel Arif Alam Shaheed Interchange of Lahore Ring Road, officials planted a hundred saplings of the native tree species.
