Faisalabad: The provincial government has directed the Irrigation Department to begin the installation of a drip irrigation system on agricultural land, a new source reported. The department has been given a target to irrigate 20,000 acres of agricultural land – as a first step.

The government will provide a 60% subsidy to farmers for helping with the installation of the drip irrigation system. After it becomes functional, the farmers will save up to 50% of their resources of water, fertilisers, time and labour. The drip irrigation system helps to provide plantations with water and fertiliser boluses at the same time.
Under the traditional irrigation system, water is wasted. It usually doesn’t become accessible to crop root beds in time, either. The new system, on the other hand, resolves this problem completely.
