Kohat: District Police Officer (DPO) Wahid Mehmood has ordered a crackdown on all encroachments keeping in mind the Eid crowds in the markets and the large number of stalls on the roads, a news source reported.
The DPO visited the main market, Miankhel bazaar, Bannu bazaar, Charsi bazaar and Tirah bazaar and had the illegal stalls removed. He said that encroachments are a big problem for pedestrians and no one will be allowed to occupy any sections of the roads.
Mehmood also asked the traffic wardens and office bearers of market unions not to allow handcarts in front of the shops on the roads, otherwise FIRs would be registered against the violators.
The DPO also distributed Ramzan and Eid packages among the families of martyred Khasadar and Levies personnel of Darra Adamkhel.
He also announced free national and international driving licences for the tribesmen, besides free education and health facilities and scholarships for the heirs of martyrs.
He said that the department will provide for all the needs of the families of the martyrs.
