Rawalpindi: To meet the water-related needs of the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, the government has approved the construction of Dotara Dam, a news source reported. The project is estimated to cost PKR 4.7 billion.

Dotara Dam is located in District Abbotabad’s Tehsil Hurripur. It lies a few kilometres away from Khanpur Dam. The area is also popular among tourists due to its natural beauty and valleys.

In addition to supplying water to Rawalpindi and Islamabad, the dam will also serve as a facility for fisheries. Furthermore, the government is also looking to provide additional amenities to deal with the influx of tourists. For this purpose, the dam will feature a boat-riding facility.
As per the details shared by the news source, the federal government, Government of Punjab, and Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, will collaborate to provide funds for the construction of Dotara Dam.
