Karachi: Karachi Administrator Murtaza Wahab on Monday (November 15) disclosed that the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) has started a door-to-door garbage collection service in all the 31 union councils of East District, according to media reports.

A Chinese company – Changyi Kangjie – was given the contract to collect garbage in the East District. According to the administrator, SSWMB has implemented a system to lift garbage from the district jurisdiction. It was also reported that the garbage dumping points (Kachra Kundis) will be removed from the city to make the system effective.

Moreover, the administrator stated that government should take strict action against the individuals who collect garbage from doors and charge high prices. SSWMB Managing Director Zubair Channa stated that garbage backlog has been removed from districts, where the board was working. He added that this door-to-door service was started to ensure that no garbage is thrown on the streets.
