Lahore: The Red Crescent will provide first aid training to the Dolphin Squad and the Police Response Unit (PRU), according to a news report. After this training, first aid kits will also be made a part of these first response units’ uniforms.

As part of this training, officers will also receive psychological evaluation and counselling to control the stress and anger that is part and parcel of their jobs.

Dolphin Squad Superintendent Bilal Zafar said that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with Red Crescent for this purpose. The Red Crescent would provide first aid training and psychological counselling to officers, and also provide them first aid kits which can be clipped to their belts for to respond urgently in emergency situations.

Zafar also revealed that in the first quarter of 2019, the police helpline had received at least 14,099 calls related to traffic accidents. This training can help save lives in around 99% of the cases, he added.
