Rawalpindi: The divisional administration on Tuesday approved the construction of a multi-road link between Punjab and Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), according to a news source. This project, under which the officials concerned plan to develop five roads, is expected to cost approximately PKR 3.6 billion.
This approval came after the AJK government had requested the Punjab government to facilitate the construction of roads linking the two regions. In response, the provincial executive had referred the matter to divisional commissioner for immediate action.

Commissioner Saqib Zafar approved these projects on Tuesday in a meeting of the divisional development party. He requested the building department to increase the pace of work on these roads, so that they could be launched soon.
Other members attending this meeting were Director Development Nazia Parveen Sudhan, Deputy Director Technical Samreen Javed, and various officials from the AJK government. The agenda of this meeting was to facilitate the construction of these roads to increase tourism and make commute convenient for travellers.

The five roads to be constructed following this approval are:
- Kallar Syedan to Dhaan Gali – 22 KM (PKR 1.12 billion)
- Lehtrar to Kalyari Road – 10 KM (PKR 579.2 million)
- Rawalpindi-Murree-Kashmir Road – 38 KM (PKR 500 million)
- Kahuta to Panjaar Road – 18 KM (PKR 100 million)
- Dina-Mangla Road – 12.83 KM (PKR 1.29 million)
The commissioner revealed that funds were available for these projects, with 30% of the allocation already released.
