Shangla: The Shangla district development advisory committee (DDAC) on Wednesday approved 37 small development projects worth PKR 67 million — with the initiative falling under the auspices of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Community-Driven Local Development (CDLD) programme, according to news sources.

The projects were approved in a meeting held at Deputy Commissioner Imran Hussain Ranjha’s office — with the officials and heads of all departments concerned also in attendance. The approved uplift projects for Shangla included schemes related to the development of water supply systems and street pavements. It also included the construction of protective walls, roads, government schools, and an RCC bridge in the area.

Reportedly, around 20 projects were approved for the Alpuri tehsil, 15 for the Puran tehsil, and two for the Chakisar tehsil.
Meanwhile, the district administration on Wednesday banned cattle transportation from Shangla to other districts for three months, under Section 144. The ban was imposed due to public complaints about transportation of sacrificial animals, and the increase in their prices.
