Karachi: The Karachi District Administration on Wednesday sealed several markets and shops over violations of the government’s revised standard operating procedures (SOPs) amid the easing of the country’s COVID-19 lockdown situation, a news source reported.

Victoria Centre, Gul Plaza, Zainab Market, Madian City Hall, International Centre, Shoe Plant, and Stylo Market were sealed due to the COVID-19 SOP’s violations. The authority also sealed two beauty salons.

Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shilwani directed the officials on Wednesday to seal the markets, saloons, and shops over failure of the newly implement SOPs, after the government relaxed the COVID-19 lockdown. He said that traders should committedly implement the SOPs as strict action would be taken against the violators.

The commissioner also informed several leaders of various traders groups that the government would not tolerate any violations. The traders assured the commissioner that of doing everything possible to ensure the SOPs were implemented properly.
