Lahore: The City District administration recovered government property during a crackdown in Nishter Town on October 17.
According to a news source, the operation was carried out under the supervision of Model Town Assistant Commissioner Abdullah Niyar, Town Municipal Officer Ali Abbas Bukhari and police contingents. As due notice had already been given to land grabbers, heavy machinery was used to demolish shops and warehouses, the news source further stated.
Reportedly, the team faced considerable resistance from locals of the area. Slogans were chanted against the district government and even the central government. Protestors claimed that the authorities had not given enough notice, thereby making such an operation unfair and uncalled for.
