Multan: The district administration has identified as many as 52 benami properties in the city and is expected to send a detailed report containing the identity card numbers of their owners to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), according to news sources.

Multan Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Aamer Khattak expressed his views on the matter during a meeting with revenue officers on Saturday. He revealed that out of these 52 properties, 20 were situated in the city, 12 were in the Saddar locality, and four were located in the Shujaabad tehsil. He further stated that added that the information of 16 of these properties had been provided by the Multan Development Authority (MDA).

The DC ordered the officials concerned to expedite the revenue recovery process in the district, and warned that any officers found with pending cases will be held accountable. He also instructed Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Tayyab Khan to investigate the matter of bogus registration deeds reported a week earlier. He warned that cases would be lodged against patwaris who misreported on the land transfer deed details.
