Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has begun the dismantling of the dilapidated Burma Bridge, according to news sources. The construction work of the bridge, however, awaits the approval of the cabinet division, revealed the CDA Director Roads and Maintenance Muhammad Lutfullah.

As per the source, Burma Bridge has been breaking in pieces and the concerned authorities decided to dismantle it to avoid any serious damage triggered by the monsoon. The process of dismantling will conclude in two weeks.
CDA Director further said that as of yet, the department has received orders only to dismantle the Burma Bridge and that the cabinet has yet to approve the construction phase of the project. The poor condition of the bridge has been causing grief for the motorists of Lehtrar, Khanna, Ali Pur Farash, Kotli Satiyan Taramari, and Nilore for years.
