Karachi: Sindh Information and Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon have ordered the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and District Metropolitan Corporations (DMCs) to complete the repair work and remove encroachments along the routes of the Intra-city Peoples Bus Service by the end of May, according to news published in the national dailies on May 14.

The minister held a meeting at the office of Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA) to review the progress of the bus service, which was attended by KMC Administrator Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Labour Minister Saeed Ghani, and Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah. During the meeting, Minister Memon mentioned that the government wants to launch the bus service by the end of this month. In the meeting, it was decided that the bus will be operated on two routes in the first phase.

Moreover, the minister informed that the National Radio Transmission Company (NRTC) has carried out a detailed survey on the proposed seven routes to identify obstacles along the route and recommended repairs. He went on to say that the departments should work closely to complete the project on time. Also, it was decided to form separate teams of DMCs and KMC to work on the route in collaboration with NRTC and SMTA.
