Lahore: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General Ahmed Aziz Tarar on Tuesday instructed Firdous Market Underpass Project Director Iqrar Hussain to open the under construction road project by on a partial basis by September 30, according to a news report.
The LDA DG issued the orders during a visit to the project site where he inspected the ongoing work at the structure of the underpass. Tarar also received briefing on the project’s development progress, which, according to Hussain, had achieved 90% completion status.
To help ease the traffic load on the alternate route for people heading to Gulberg, Kalma Chowk, Cavalry and Cantt., the DG asked the project director to operationalise the underpass for light traffic. Meanwhile, the contracting firm is all set to work on clearing the walkways and adjoining roads.
According to Hussain, special arrangements were made to remove the rain water accumulated around the underpass. For this purpose, 10 wells would be constructed to store the rain water while work was currently underway on the two of these facilities. In addition, another underground storage tank will be constructed in Qarshi Park to store 1.1 million gallons of rain water.
