Karachi: Sindh Transport and Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon directed the authorities concerned to complete the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project on time, according to news published on October 04.

A meeting was held to discuss the progress of the Red BRT Line project. The minister reviewed the pace of development progress of the two sections of the project. During the meeting, it was discussed how to remove obstacles related to the utility lines. Transport Minister Memon mentioned that the government’s priority was to timely complete the project to provide a modern public transport facility for the people of Karachi.
Moreover, the minister stated that Red BRT Line is the first biogas project in the country and was devised with the cooperation of ADB, Asian Infrastructure Bank, and AFD, at the accumulated cost of USD 505 million.

The meeting was attended by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Senior Urban Development Specialist Lloyd Wright, Sindh Transport Secretary Abdul Haleem Sheikh, Sindh Mass-Transit Authority (SMTA) Managing Director Capt (retired) Altaf Hussain Sario, representatives of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), and Chief Executive Officers of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and Trans Karachi.
