Karachi: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has directed the officials concerned to expedite the work and eliminate obstacles hindering the implementation of projects under the China-Pakistan-Economic-Corridor (CPEC) including Main-Line (ML-1) and the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) projects, according to news published in the leading newspaper on November 22.

Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal reviewed the progress of the CPEC projects and directed the relevant authorities to speed up the implementation of the projects. In the 11th meeting of the Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC), several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between Pakistan and China.
During the meeting, the conveners of Joint Working Groups (JWGs) on transport infrastructure, socio-economic development, long-term planning of CPEC, energy, Gwadar, science and technology, international cooperation, agriculture cooperation, and industrial cooperation briefed about the progress that took place after the JCC meeting.

The minister informed that the next phase of CPEC will focus on the development of industrial cooperation. He asked the relevant authorities to expedite work on Special Economic Zones (SEZs). He also directed the concerned authorities to cooperate with the Chinese authorities for the early completion of Gwadar International Airport.
