Lahore: Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) Relief Commissioner Punjab Nabeel Javed has issued directives to the line departments to use earthquake-proof material in the newly constructed buildings in Punjab to limit the damage caused by earthquakes, a news source reported on March 24.

Javed issued these directives during his visit to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA)’s control room. During the visit, he ordered the administration to inspect high-rise buildings and check if earthquake-proof materials are being used. He warned that strict action will be instigated against those who use non-standard materials for construction.

PDMA Director General Imran Qureshi briefed the Relief Commissioner about the earthquake and presented the initial report. He also asked all the districts to submit the details of the available equipment to deal with such calamities.
