Faisalabad: Faisalabad Commissioner Muhammad Ali has revealed that preparations are currently underway to seal all dilapidated buildings within the city in order to avoid any unfortunate incidents during the monsoon season, a news source reported. In this regard, ‘all related preparations will be completed soon,’ said the commissioner, since he was personally monitoring the effort.

At the same time, several news sources claim that the local government is yet to formulate a list of all (considered potentially) dangerous buildings within the city. Faisalabad is home to a number of such developments which were constructed several decades ago, and due to a consistent lack of maintenance, they now pose major threats to the wellbeing of their inhabitants. Many of these buildings are located in the bazaars linked with the Faisalabad Ghanta Ghar.

As per a forecast by the Pakistan Metrological Department, the country is expected to receive a stronger spell of rainfall this monsoon season; 10% higher than what was recorded in the previous years. Coupled with bouts of strong wind storms, this year’s spell can cause significant life-and-assets loss if sufficient precautionary measures are not taken (warn the news sources).
