Karachi: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) plans to introduce a digital tax collection system next year in a bid to identify tax evaders, a news source reported.

FBR Chairman Dr Jahanzeb Khan expressed his views on the matter. He was addressing the business community at the office of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on Saturday.

He said that the federal institution was making the utmost efforts to introduce new reforms. The digital system will replace the existing manual tax collection method.
He informed that FBR had already prepared a list of over 6,000 wealthy tax evaders. These individuals reportedly hold expensive assets and properties abroad.

The board recently notified these individuals of their tax dues. Dr Jahanzeb said that FBR had identified unrecorded transactions worth PKR 3 billion. Out of the said amount, the authority has managed to collect PKR 2.75 billion.
