Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue has started a digital survey to bring non-filers into the tax net, a news source quoted details of a meeting held to brief Senate committee. Under this survey, data will be gathered for rich people, property tycoons, real estate agents and owners of luxury cars, while notices have already been sent to 20,000 people.
Briefing the meeting presided by Saleem Mandiwala, the FBR’s Broadening of Tax Base Director General Tanveer Akhtar Malik said that tax net broadening zones have been established in Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad, which has so far identified 10,000 unregistered members but the FBR is looking to target high-value taxpayers. He also said that the FBR is mapping high-rise buildings constructed in the last 10 years and has mapped 450 plazas so far in Islamabad alone. After that, the FBR will shift its focus to housing societies.
