Islamabad: The government has acquired 86% of land for the construction of Diamer-Bhasha Dam – a news source quoted Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda.
He said that the government will provide 19,062 acres of its land for the project. He added that a total of 18,357 acres will be acquired from private individuals.

Similarly, the government has acquired 740 acres out of over 9,000 acres of land for the construction of Dasu Dam.
The Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform had in December released a sum of PKR 4.73 billion for the construction of Diamer-Bhasha Dam. The authorities concerned have put the total cost at PKR 474 billion.

The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) will begin the construction work on Diamer-Bhasha Dam in the first quarter of this year. The multipurpose dam will take nine years to complete.
Last year, WAPDA invited proposals for construction design service, construction supervision, and administration of Diamer-Bhasha Dam.
