Islamabad: The Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has decided to form Diamer-Bhasha Dam Private Limited Company, a news source reported. The company is meant to generate funds for the construction of the dam.
The funds will be generated by extending ownership to the general public and overseas Pakistanis. This will help reduce utility bills, and the private owners will gain profits. The shares of the company will be marketed through Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), with the government owning 52% shares and public the remaining 48%. A campaign will also be launched to attract overseas Pakistanis for the collection of money for dams.
Bridges, barrages and inter-provincial crossings will also be taxed to collect funds for the dam. Other options are being considered as well.
