Abbottabad: Abbottabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Tariq Salam Marwat has directed Frontier Works Organization (FWO) to complete the construction work at the Dhamthore Bypass project on priority, news sources reported on April 13. The initiative aims to alleviate traffic congestion in Galiyat and boost tourism.

The DC issued the directives after receiving the briefing on the construction status of the bypass and the road connecting Galiyats with the rest of the country. As per the DC, speeding up construction work on the projects is critical to boosting the region’s tourism business.
Reportedly, the FWO, Nespak, and Communication and Works Departments are working together on the bypass. The participants were instructed to complete the infrastructure development by May to assist summer tourists. The gathering was also informed that the government plans to build a police station on the bypass for the safety of travelers.

In a separate meeting, DC Marwat directed the relevant authorities to take action against encroachment near the proposed bypass route. In addition, he directed the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) and the TMA official to form teams to clean the clogged drains and sewers. Special directions were given to clean drains at Ayub Medical Complex, Sethi Masjid, Jhangi, small industries, Bilal Town, Jab Pul, and other areas.
