Islamabad: The Defence Housing Authority Islamabad-Rawalpindi (DHAI-R) has shared its policy for the installation of solar panels after a rumour circled on social media platforms regarding restrictions imposed on the installation of solar panels. The DHA management clarified that the authority has imposed no such restrictions. In fact, the authority has very clear by-laws and encourage the residents of the housing scheme to adopt alternate source of energy.

The following are the solar panel installation bylaws set by the authority:
- The maximum capacity of the solar system that can be installed in a house up to 1 kanal is 10-Kilowatt (KW) and for a house of 2 kanal or above, the limit is 20 KW
- The solar panels should be installed on the rooftop, keeping in mind that the lower edge should be at 5 feet and the upper edge must be up to 10 feet
- In case the rooftop space is insufficient for installing the required number of solar panels, then the solar panels can be allowed on mumty or Overhead Water Tank; the lower edge should be at 0 feet while the upper edge must not exceed 12 inches

It was mentioned that no further relaxation will be granted for the heights of solar panels.
