Karachi: The Dhabeji Water Pumping Station (DWPS) has been repaired and made operational once again – a news source reported. According to the publication the rehabilitation project has cost nearly PKR 5 billion to complete, and will add almost a million gallons of water to the city’s reserves — which will go a long way in resolving the region’s water-shortage problem.

Chief Minister’s Adviser on Law and Environment and Spokesman for Sindh government Barrister Murtaza Wahab revealed this information in a press conference at the Sindh Assembly Building’s Media Corner on Tuesday. He added that the DWPS will become fully functional from November 15.

The existing water pumping capacity of the DWPS was 100 million gallons per day and nearly 25 million gallons of water was either spilt or wasted. He further said that the provincial government has equipped the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board with 20 more sewage pumping devices, increasing the number of pumps to 38.
