Multan: The Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Multan management has announced guidelines for overseas Pakistanis to execute the ‘General Power of Attorney’ for expatriates/overseas Pakistanis, according to a post published on the society’s official Facebook page on July 29.

What is the procedure for executing General Power of Attorney for expatriates?
Following is the procedure for executing General Power of Attorney for expatriates:
- The overseas plot owner shall appear in person in the concerned embassy or consulate along with:
- General Power of Attorney Deed
- His original National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP)
- Two Pakistani witnesses with their NICOPs
- The witnesses and plot owner shall sign the General Power of Attorney in Embassy/Consulate in presence of the concerned official – who will then authenticate the execution with his seal and signatures
- The attorney will verify the General Power of Attorney from the Foreign Affairs office in Pakistan and the deed will be registered in the office of the concerned registrar

- Overseas plot owners can also execute the power of attorney in Pakistan in favour of attorney, whenever he is in Pakistan. It will be a registered deed and its certified copy shall be produced in DHA at transfer/sale time
- For transfer in DHA Multan, the attorney shall appear in person with his computerised national identity card (CNIC) and original copy of power of attorney to further alienate the plot
- The opinion of legal branch shall also be sought as an additional safety measure
If all the requirements mentioned above are properly fulfilled, the ownership of the plot shall be changed.
