Lahore: The management of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Lahore has made some integral changes to the building bylaws for commercial plots, according to a post shared on the authority’s official Facebook page on September 18. The introduced changes are expected to promote the construction of high-rise building – in accordance with Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s vision on controlling urban sprawl.

As per the details, the DHA has not only allowed the construction of various types of projects on 16-marla and above commercial plots, it has also increased the height limit for commercial building constructed on 16-marla, 32-marla and 80-marla commercial units. This is exactly what the DHA’s Facebook post on ‘Relaxation on Use of Commercial Plots’ says:
‘Now 16-Marla and above commercial plots can be utilised for (the construction of) any kind of projects i.e. Apartments, Office Complex, Retail, Hospitality, Medical Facility etc.’

Through the same post, the society management has invited plot owners and builders to apply for development projects according to the updated bylaws. Moreover, the post comes tagged with the helpline number: 042-111-342-547 (Ext 2819, 3408).
A similar post was shared on September 17 where the DHA announced ‘Height Relaxation for Commercial Buildings’:
- Height limit for commercial plots measuring 16 marlas to less than 32 marlas increased to 96 feet
- Height limit for commercial plots measuring 32 marlas to 64 marlas increased to 120 feet
- Height limit for commercial plots measuring 80 marlas increased to 150 feet
The post on ‘height relaxation’ comes with a few hashtags suggesting that the move is meant to spruce up the applications for commercial plots – which are being offered on 3-year payment plan via an open ballot taking place on October 26.

On September 16, the DHA Lahore shared the details on these developed plots via its official website, where it revealed the exact location, sizes, images and value of these plots. The list included 6 units of 16-marla plots; all located in DHA Phase 8 CC2. There was only one entry each for 48-marla and 80-marla plots respectively; located in DHA Phase 6 and Phase 5 in the same order.
