Karachi: The Defense Housing Authority (DHA) City Karachi has issued an advisory to help people ward off the adverse effects of the prevailing heatwave, according to a post published on the authority’s official Facebook on May 09.

How to keep safe from heat and high temperatures?
As per the DHA management-issued guidelines, the following measures will help you keep safe from heat and high temperatures:
• Wear full sleeves clothes
• Keep yourself covered especially head and back of the neck
• Avoid having tea, coffee and cold drinks
• Avoid going out between 11 am to 4 pm
• Avoid sunlight, try to complete tasks in the early hours of the day
• Keep hydrated and stay under shades
• Use oral rehydration solutions (ORS)

It is pertinent to note that the National Weather Forecasting Centre on Friday predicted severe heatwave conditions during this week in various parts of the country, including the cities of Punjab and Sindh. Moreover, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) officials have cautioned that the maximum temperature in Karachi could exceed 40-degree Celsius from May 11 onwards.
